SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends the following as the primary points of discussion:
1. Awning design
Staff offers the following comments on the preliminary plan:
1. Reduce the awning size to one that is traditional and revise the awning position so that it has a more traditional relationship to the
window.
2. Eliminate the uplights at the canopy /trellis.
3. Clarify and coordinate the drawings regarding the use of a raceway for the Applebee's letters. If a raceway is proposed, indicate on the
drawings that its color will match the color of the wall to which it is attached.
4. Eliminate the apple graphic from the awnings.
5. Limit the Applebee's channel letter sign to 9'8" in length.
6. Coordinate the architectural and sign drawings.
7. Confirm that the tagline sign is proposed. If it is, provide a to -scale drawing showing the tagline sign on the building, with dimensions.
The sign shall not overlap or obscure architectural detail.
8. Provide dimensions on the drawing for the Neighborhood Grill & Bar sign in the canopy.
9. Eliminate the LED lighting in the channel of the canopy.
10. Add this note to the sign drawings: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a
single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon.
11. Submit the $590 building permit review fee.
