It was subsequently determined that ARB review was required. Consequently, the ARB building permit review fee is required. SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS Staff recommends the following as the primary points of discussion: 1. Awning design Staff offers the following comments on the preliminary plan: 1. Reduce the awning size to one that is traditional and revise the awning position so that it has a more traditional relationship to the window. 2. Eliminate the uplights at the canopy /trellis. 3. Clarify and coordinate the drawings regarding the use of a raceway for the Applebee's letters. If a raceway is proposed, indicate on the drawings that its color will match the color of the wall to which it is attached. 4. Eliminate the apple graphic from the awnings. 5. Limit the Applebee's channel letter sign to 9'8" in length. 6. Coordinate the architectural and sign drawings. 7. Confirm that the tagline sign is proposed. If it is, provide a to -scale drawing showing the tagline sign on the building, with dimensions. The sign shall not overlap or obscure architectural detail. 8. Provide dimensions on the drawing for the Neighborhood Grill & Bar sign in the canopy. 9. Eliminate the LED lighting in the channel of the canopy. 10. Add this note to the sign drawings: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. 11. Submit the $590 building permit review fee. 7 ATTACHMENT A Sign and Awning Proposal Details Wall Sign Entrance Canopy Tagline Sign Awning Sign 1.0 Awning Sign 1.1 Awning Sign 2.0 Sin (Multicolor apple) (Single color apple) (Carside to o) Tye Channel letters Push - through letters Tagline cabinet Graphic on awning Graphic on awning Graphic on awning Quantity 3 1 1 3 6 1 Materials Aluminum, acrylic, Aluminum, acrylic Aluminum, acrylic Vinyl on metal Vinyl on metal Vinyl on metal 'ewelite Location Centered in north On face of new Centered over the Lower right corner of Lower right corner of Center of awning over elevation of tower; canopy over entrance three windows on right awning on north, middle and left awning to -go window on east centered in wall area on north elevation the north elevation east and west on north, east and west elevation over windows on east elevations elevations and west elevations Sign Size 2' tall x 9'8" long x 5" F tall x 8' long F 6" tall x 12' 6" 3'9" tall x 5' 6" wide 3'9" tall x 5' 6" wide 3' tall x 4'4" wide deep (approx.) long (letter size: 9" tall x 12' 9" long) Text Applebee's Neighborhood Grill Neighborhood Grill n/a n/a Carside To Go & Bar & Bar Graphics None None None Apple Apple Apple at top of green oval with an arrow Colors Letters Faces: white; trim caps White faces White faces, bronze n/a n/a Green (Pantone 757C) and returns: Bronze background and return Graphic None None None Dark red (3M 3630 -73 Dark red (Oracal 030) Graded shades of green and Oracal 030), green (Pantone 575C), dark (no color number red (3M 3630 -73 and provided), white Oracal 030), white Illumination LED Fluorescent internal Internal fluorescent None None None for push through letters, external LED in channel at top of canopy Mounting Direct to wall Mounted in face of Direct to wall Vinyl attached to Vinyl attached to Vinyl attached to canopy awning awning awning AWNINGS Type 1.0 and 1.1 2.0 Quantity 9 1 Location Over windows on north, east and west elevations Over Carside To Go window on east elevation Size 7'5" tall x 7' 8" wide (awning projects from wall 18" at the bottom; frame projects from wall 22" at the top and 31" at the bottom) 6'4" tall x 6' wide (awning projects from wall 18" at the bottom; frame projects from wall 22" at the top and 31" at the bottom) Color Dark Red (PMS 201C) Dark Red (PMS 201C) -Awning Graphics Apple* Apple at top of green oval with an arrow* NOTE* See Sign Proposal Details for information on awning graphics.
