Context The site is located in a partially developed area with residential to the south and commercial development to the north. The Holiday Inn existed prior to the establishment of the Entrance Corridors and the pole sign is a legally nonconforming sign. Visibility The wall sign is highly visible from 1 -64 heading east, the pole sign is highly visible from 1 -64 heading west and 5th Street, and the freestanding sign is highly visible from 5th Street. The applicant was not able to provide the information until April 8, which required the ARB review to be rescheduled for the May 2 meeting. The applicant did make minor changes to the drawing as suggested by staff, including reducing the size of the logo box for the wall sign and painting the pole for the pylon sign bronze, which was originally proposed to be painted white. The illumination of the base of the monument sign. Staff recommends approval of the Certificate of Appropriateness for the ARB 2011 -21 Holiday Inn signs with the following conditions: 1. Include a note on all of the sign drawings stating the following: "The logo box will have an opaque background and only the letter "H" will illuminate." 2. Revise the design of the base for the monument sign to a very dark material similar to the existing base and include a note on the drawing stating that it will not be illuminated.
