I'm writing this email to inform you that:
"all work within the Route 29 right of way will require a Land Use Permit from VDOT. Because the plan includes
improvements that are considered critical infrastructure, we will be requiring a VDOT inspector to oversee certain
phases of the construction of this project. An accounts receivable will be set up with the permitting of the work and the
applicant will be responsible for covering the costs of the inspection on a monthly basis. During the permitting, we will
list all mandatory inspections by VDOT and request the applicant give adequate notice of these phases of construction
that require inspection."
Please provide the county with 6 copies of the set approved by VDOT. Please note that a bond must be posted for this
work before SDP - 2010 -00021 is signed. To request a bond, please submit a Bond Estimate Request Form to the County
Engineer with a $250 fee.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Phil

the revisions submitted to me electronically for sheets 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 18 with a revised date of 8 -8 -2011 and sheet
9A with a revised date of 9 -2 -2011. The remainder of the sheets are dated 6 -17 -2011. The applicant has been working
with VDOT directly since the last submission to the county on 6 -17 -2011 and will be submitting the revisions to the
county listed above.
Please inform the applicant that all work within the Route 29 right of way will require a Land Use Permit from VDOT.

David,
I have reviewed the changes and they look good. The only thing I have additional is that you need to call out a safety
slab, standard SL -1 for structure #4 on sheet C -9A. Other than that I think this plan is approvable.
Please make the change on sheet C -9A and send a pdf, or if you need to submit through the county, you can make the
change and sent them the plan.
Thanks
Joel

Joel,
Attached is an exhibit with the median along the Rte. 29 South Bound lane new left turn lane graded out in strict
accordance with GS -13 standard. It is extremely flat. I would need to install inlets probably every 50' and grade out
intermediate high points and low points to collect drainage. Please note that on each side of the median a 4' unpaved
shoulder at 5/8" : 1' is provided adjacent to the new or existing paved shoulder prior to grading out at 6'H:1'V to the low
point.
Do you have any other alternatives that would be acceptable to VDOT?
