Mr. Cha,
I am sending this email as a follow up to the voice mail that I left you this morning. As I mentioned in the voice mail, I
realized this morning that I had the wrong location for your sign when I wrote the email below to you yesterday. The sign
application did not contain a map showing the sign location; however, I was able to determine the correct location of 145
Community Street this morning and determined that the sign will in fact be visible from the Route 29 Entrance Corridor in
that location. As a result, you will need approval (known as a Certificate of Appropriateness) for the design of the sign. I
apologize for this mistake and any confusion it may have caused. The contents of my letter of September 8th (attached)
and email of September 9th (attached) still apply.
As previously noted, only sign applications meeting the approved comprehensive sign criteria for this building can be
approved administratively. The approved criteria require that:
• The channel letter text "sweetFrog" be white with black or bronze trim caps and returns.
• The pink background of the premium frozen yogurt" sign box and frog logo box not be used.
• The five colors of the frog logo box be reduced in number to one, possibly two colors if white is one of the two
colors.
• The `premium frozen yogurt" sign box, if illuminated, be internally illuminated with an opaque background (only
the text illuminates).
• The frog logo box not be illuminated.
This is only meant as a guide. What we can definitely approve cannot be determined until we have all the sign application
materials as requested in the letter of September 8, 2011.
I urge you to call me so we can discuss further and make sure that my communication is clear.

Mr. Cha,
I tried to call you just now but was not able to reach you, so I thought I would send this email. As I mentioned on the
phone last week, sign applications such as yours, located in the Hollymead Town Center, must be reviewed/approved for
compliance with sign guidelines established by the Albemarle County, Architectural Review Board. This is because that
shopping center is located adjacent to a designated Entrance Corridor (Route 29). However, I visited your proposed sign
location and realized that your sign will not be visible from the Route 29 right -of -way. Because it is not visible from the
right -of -way, Architectural Review Board approval is not required for your sign permit.
You do still need to have your sign permit reviewed and approved by other divisions within our department. Since I do
not have to review your permit, I have forwarded it on to the other divisions that must review and approve it. Should you
have any questions regarding the status of your sign permit review, I would suggest you call Stewart Wright, Permit
Planner at 434 - 296 -5832, ext. 3024. He will be overseeing the review of your permit.
Please do not hesitate to call me should you have any questions.

Mr. Cha,
As per our phone conversation this morning, I am attaching the letter I mailed to you regarding your recent sign
application. As the letter states, your application was incomplete and cannot be reviewed until the missing
information is received. The information that is required is listed in the letter. As promised, I am also attaching
a copy of the approved sign criteria for that building at Hollymead Town Center. This criteria was developed
and approved by the Architectural Review Board. As I mentioned, only sign applications meeting that approved
criteria can be approved administratively by staff. Please note, the approved sign criteria require that the sign
colors be limited to red (PMS 187) or white, while your application shows pink, green and yellow colors. As I
mentioned, your other option would be to have the application reviewed by the Architectural Review Board at
their October 17a' meeting.
You are welcome to contact me once you have had a chance to review this. I would be happy to discuss it and
answer any questions you might have.
