Mr. Cha,
I am sending this email as a follow up to our phone conversation this afternoon.
Typically we would not approve a black background on a sign box in this location; however, you indicated the
bottom row text `premium frozen yogurt" is too small to be internally illuminated channel letters so we can
approve what you are proposing. The overall size of the sign box and the height of the text in the sign box was
not indicated on the sign drawing. Also, the height of the proposed channel letters "sweetFrog" was not
indicated on the sign drawing. My approval letter will need to include those dimensions.
• Please revise the sign drawing to include the overall size of the sign box, the height of the text in the
sign box and the height of the channel letters "sweetFrog ".
The 10' length of the "sweetFrog" text touches the brick pillar at each end making the sign appear crowded.
Reducing the total sign length by 8" would allow 4" of clearance at each end of the sign, making the sign appear
more proportionate to the wall.
• Please revise the sign drawing to show the top row text "sweetFrog" at a reduced length of 9'- 4 ".
Your application indicates that internal LED lighting is proposed.
• Please revise the sign drawing to include the following note regarding the intensity of the proposed
lighting: "The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a
single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. "
Please email me the revised sign drawings. Once received, I can draft the Certificate of Appropriateness
approval letter, email (and mail) it to you and sign off on the permit for the Architectural Review Board. At that
point, you can contact our department, Community Development (434- 296 -5832) and see if the sign permit is
ready to be issued to you.
Thanks,
Brent
