This event will only run alongside Pen Park Lane and will not have participants in the highway. This event is well staffed and we have received no complaints or concerns. Based on the application and the history of this event the Albemarle County police Department approves this event as applied for. Hackney Albemarle County Police Department Traffic Division 1600 5th Street Ext., Suite D Charlottesville, VA 22902 Dear Sergeant Hackney, Charlottesville Catholic School will be holding its 10th Annual 5K All Terrain Run on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. As part of the approval process to hold this run, the Charlottesville Department of Parks and Recreation requires that I receive correspondence from the Albemarle County Police Department and Virginia Department of Transportation authorizing the race routes and any instructions we will need to comply with. The letter should also state that an officer assigned to monitor this sector may come by to monitor the traffic and public safety. Charlottesville Catholic School will provide persons who are flag certified at points where the run intersects with Pen Park Road. Mr. John Winn at the Virginia Department of Transportation will also need to receive your approval before he can give his authorization for the use of Route 768 (Pen Park Road) for the 5K Run. I have sent a letter to Mr. Winn requesting this along with a crude map of the run course. Please send your authorization and any specific instructions to me at develo ment@cvillecatholic ore and copy Mr. Winn at iohn.wimina dot.vir inia.gov. Thank you for assisting in making this important fundraiser a success. If you have questions or need more information please contact the Development Office at 434 - 964 -0400, ext. 301.
