JAUNT has the following advisory comments. 1. This area is in the urban fare zone for JAUNT, where we provide trips primarily for people with disabilities. Charlottesville Area Transit would be the main transit option for the general public. The closest current CAT stop is over a mile away on Hillsdale Drive. a. Consider contacting CAT about the possibility of adding on- street bus stops (in place of some on- street parking) for a future bus route. b. Especially if bus stops are possible, work with VDOT to consider adding a crosswalk. 2. The parking lot layout appears to be sufficient to allow JAUNT to serve the facility. a. What is the vertical clearance of the covered entry? b. JAUNT would like to identify where drivers can deploy wheelchair lifts if needed. Will the sidewalk next to the covered entry be ramped, flush, or raised at curb height? A ramped sidewalk can interfere with the lift; if ramped, consider widening part of the adjacent 6' sidewalk to 8' to allow lift deployment. 3. Pedestrian /bicycle connections: a. There is an area designated as a building in a future phase. Consider extending a temporary walkway through this area to provide a more direct pedestrian connection to the building entrance from Belvedere Boulevard. b. For the many active seniors living nearby, there may be a need for bicycle parking, which I didn't see on the plan. c. Consider narrowing the on- street parking width to 7' or 8' and providing a 1' or 2' buffer or "door zone" between parking and bike lanes. Please contact me with any questions.
