RE: Special Use Permits and Rezoning Submittals
Dear Mr. Fritz:
Below are VDOT's comments for the November, 2011 Rezoning and Special Use Permit applications:
SP- 2011 -00026 New Cingular Wireless/ AT &T (Scott Clark)
1. This new tower location and proposed easement with connection to Route 20 appears to require a
new entrance. The applicant will need to apply for a Land Use Permit from VDOT.
2. The permit application will require enough detail to determine the location on Route 20 and show
adequate sight distance along with the dimensions and materials for the entrance.
SP- 2011 -00027 Panorama Events (Scott Clark)
1. Route 661 is an existing gravel road which gets very narrow prior to the location for the entrance
to this site. The road width is generally around 12 feet and opposing traffic will have a difficult
time passing one another.
2. The sight distances at the entrance that is proposed for the events does not meet standard VDOT
sight distance requirements at this location. There is a road embankment to the right with trees
and vegetation that is a sight line obstruction and to the left the horizontal curvature of the road is
an obstruction.
