Dear Ms. Proctor,
On behalf of the Charlottesville Women's Four Miler I write this letter to request
permission to hold our annual road race on Saturday, September 3, 2011. The section of the
road that we use for the event begins at the main entrance to the Foxfield Race Track and
extends a mile both east and.west along.Garth Road from that point. For the past 28 years
VDOT has kindly granted us permission to use this two -mile section of Garth Road, controlling
traffic with the help of the Albemarle County Police. The times we need to detour traffic from
this area of Garth Road are from 7:35 am until 9:15 am on the 3rd of September.
Last year this special event hosted 3500 women runners and walkers, and we're
expecting another record turnout for this year's race. In 2010 we were able to donate
$335,000 to DVA's Breast Care Program from the race proceeds.
I thank you in advance for the Zoning Department's support of this popular and special
fund - raiser and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. If I can be of any further

I have reviewed the application for the Women's 4 Miler. Based on the history of this event, ACPD approves
this event as applied for. We will have numerous officers on site during the race. Additionally there will be a

There are a few changes we will need to address. I took Mr. Fretwell's place and Sherri Proctor has left the County and
your new point of contact should be Rebecca Ragsdale, whom I am also contacting with this e -mail.
Is this for profit? If it is you will have to fill out a LUP -A permit form and submit a $100 fee for the permit, If not, I can just
provide you with an approval letter.
I will need a map of the course and a letter or e -mail from the Albemarle County Police saying they will be providing traffic
control.
