Comprehensive Sign Criteria for Woodbrook Shopping Center • Sign design criteria for this shopping center have been established; a copy of those criteria is attached. • Your sign proposal does not meet those design criteria as outlined below and would need to be revised accordingly: o The Comprehensive Sign Criteria: ■ Limit the total number of sign colors (including the background color) to four. • This proposal has 5 colors. Limit the text color to white. • This proposal has black text colors Limit the background color to blue (the shade of blue shall coordinate with the shades of blue used for the backgrounds of existing signs in the shopping center). • This proposal has a pink background Limit the sign location to over the door and centered between the gutter beneath and bottom of the window above —just as the existing Burger Oasis sign is (see attached photo). The Burger Oasis sign was approved at a 3'- 6" height x 7' width. This proposal is for a 4' height x 5' width sign. The additional 6" in height appears to over crowd the distance between the gutter and bottom of the window. • Sign lighting: o The sign application did not indicate if the sign is to be illuminated. If it is to be illuminated, the application would need to be revised to indicate the location and type of light fixture, include the bulb type /wattage and not exceed 3,000 lumens. The lighting would need to be external to the sign and located on the roof as with the other illuminated signs in the shopping center. • Color Samples: o Provide color samples of all proposed colors or revise the sign drawing to include the Pantone number for each proposed color. • Text and Graphic Dimensions: o Revise the sign drawing to include the dimensions (height & width) of the text and graphics. • The required $120 ARB (Architectural Review Board) review fee was not provided with this application. The sign permit will not be issued until that fee is paid. • The sign currently in the window (see attached photo) does not meet the requirements of a window sign and is not permitted; please remove it. The Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance does allow for temporary signs to identify the business until the permanent sign is approved and installed. Permits are required for the temporary sign. Please contact Stewart Wright, Permit Planner, at 434 - 296 -5832, ext 3024 or email at swright2galbemarle.org for more information on how to obtain a temporary sign permit. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns; emailing the revised drawings, while preferred, is not required. I will call you after I send this email so we can go over its contents. Thanks, Brent Brent W.
