RE: ARB- 2012 -13: Ivy Sit Go
Dear Brian,
Fax (434)
I have reviewed the above - referenced application for a county -wide Certificate of Appropriateness for a
building permit. With the conditions of approval listed below, your proposal meets all of the design criteria
outlined by the Architectural Review Board for this type of Certificate. You may consider this letter your
Certificate of Appropriateness.
This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed for review, will be used.
The acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the
site plan, attachments, materials, samples, and other submittal items presented. Any change in the
approved design or materials will require an amendment to the plan and a new application.
Please note the following:
1. This approval is subject to the following conditions. Please be sure that the drawings submitted with
your building permit application satisfy these conditions. If the conditions are not addressed, permit
approval will be delayed.
a. Add a note to the plan reading, "Maximum light pole height shall not exceed the height of the
building." Indicate the building height and the proposed pole height (including the height of
any base) on the drawings. Adjust photometrics accordingly.
b. Eliminate the shoe box light fixture (B) shown on the front elevation or replace it with a more
decorative fixture suited to the building fagade (such as D).
c. Specify on the permit drawings the building materials and colors approved with this ARB
application.
2. This application is approved with the condition that mechanical equipment shall not be visible from
the Entrance Corridor.
3. Changes made to the site or architectural plans after issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness can
delay the approval of building permits. It is in the applicant's best interest to notify ARB staff of such
changes and to initiate the review of amendments to ARB- approved plans to avoid future delays.
4. Certificates of Appropriateness are valid for the same period that the corresponding site plan is valid. If
there is no site plan required for the proposed work, the Certificate of Appropriateness is valid for 3
years. Applicants requesting an extension of the period of validity must do so in writing. The letter
must be received by the Director of Planning prior to the expiration date.
If you have any questions concerning any of the above, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
Margaret Maliszewski
Principal Planner
