Freestanding Sign — Refacing: Issue: Text Proportions: ARB Sign Guidelines state the lettering should be in proportion (font size and typeface style) to the sign, not over - crowding the sign area. The text "CVS" appears oversized in relation to the white background resulting in an insufficient amount of white border on the tops and sides of the text. • Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing by reducing the size of the "CVS" text, allowing for a more sufficient amount of white background to frame the top, sides and bottom of the text. Issue: Opaque Sign Background: ARB Sign Guidelines and the Zoning Ordinance state that cabinet signs shall have a non - illuminated background, or an opaque (zero light transmission) background. This is not indicated on the sign drawing. • Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing to include the following note: The cabinet sign shall have a non - illuminated background, or an opaque (zero light transmission) background, only the text shall illuminate. Issue• Bulb Type: The sign drawing does not indicate the bulb type for the cabinet. If LED is proposed, the following note regarding intensity is required: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. • Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing to indicate the bulb type for the cabinet lighting. If LED is proposed, revise the drawing to include the following note: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. Proposed Wall Signs: Issue: Sign Type The exact sign type cannot be determined from the drawings provided. Are direct -mount channel letters proposed or some other type of direct -mount letter? Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing to clearly indicate the sign type. Issue• Color ID Neither the acrylic number or Pantone number is noted on the sign drawing for the proposed red color. • Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing to indicate the acrylic number or Pantone number for the proposed red color. If channel letters are proposed, revise the drawing to include the trim cap and return colors. Issue• Bulb Type: The sign drawing does not indicate the bulb type for the internally illuminated letters. If LED is proposed, the following note regarding intensity is required: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. • Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing to indicate the bulb type for the internally illuminated letters. If LED is proposed, revise the drawing to include the following note: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. Please email the revised drawings and do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
