Dear Mr. Hendrickson:
The Albemarle County Architectural Review Board reviewed the above noted item at its meeting on Monday,
March 19, 2011. The Board, by a vote of 4:0, approved the request, pending staff administrative approval of
the following conditions:
1. Eliminate the center vertical element from the arched tower.
2. Provide an accurate elevation and perspective drawing showing the revised tower heights.
3. Revise the glass in the end towers to an alternate material other than EIFS.
4. Provide cut sheets and a luminaire schedule for all proposed light fixtures. Indicate fixture color, lamp
type, wattage. Ensure that the luminaire schedule is coordinated with the lighting elevations. If lamps
emit 3,000 lumens or more, ensure that full cutoff fixtures are proposed.
5. Update the comprehensive sign criteria for the Shoppers World Shopping Center to indicate that non -
illuminated tenant panel signs hung from the ceiling of the colonnade do not require ARB
review /approval and to indicate that signs may also be located on the faces of the tower elements of
Building D.
6. Provide a sample of the matte finish metal to be used in the end towers.
Please provide:
1. Two full sets of revised drawings addressing each of these conditions. Include updated ARB revision
dates on each drawing.
2. A memo including detailed responses indicating how each condition has been satisfied. If changes
other than those requested have been made, identify those changes in the memo also. Highlighting
the changes in the drawing with "clouding" or by other means will facilitate review and approval.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions to
ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staff's review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued.
