SDP - 2012 -00017 Riverfront Townhomes - final site plan
Megan,
I have reviewed the subject site plan and have the following comments:
1. Add a note for construction in the road right of way requiring the contractor to set up work zones in
accordance with the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual 2011.
2. Add a traffic control plan to the set of drawings.
3. Add a pavement marking plan to the set of drawings.
4. Add standard UD -4 under drains to the widened section of Route 1140.
5. Sight distances are shown incorrectly. SDL for 35 mph is 415 feet and SDR is 440 feet.
6. The typical sections need to show the adjacent lane overlay as shown in the WP -2 standard.
7. Proposed guardrail needs to show adequate end sections or tie into existing guardrail.
8. Guardrail placed with CG -6 curbing is required to be placed 8 feet off the face of curb.
9. The proposed guardrail needs to have 1 to 2 feet of graded backing behind the post prior to the fill slope.
10. The face of guardrail is required to be a minimum of 1 foot behind the sidewalk.
11. Additional right of way is required in the sections for the guardrail.
12. Drainage structures number 2 and 3 are required to have safety slabs, standard SL -1.
13. The gutter slopes for spread calculations are to be 8.33 percent.
14. Provide a spread calculation at the end of the proposed curb at the north side of the CG -6.
15. The area of right of way being conveyed back to the property will likely have to get both county and
VDOT approval.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
Thanks
Joel
