Issue: Missing Drawings The most recent submission does not contain all of the sign drawings contained in the original submission. Recommendation: With your next submission, provide all sign drawings included in your original submission. Issue: Color Identification Proposed sign colors, for all signs, are not provided. Proposed face, trim cap and return colors for all signage must be clearly identified on the drawings with Pantone equivalent numbers indicated. Recommendation: Revise the sign drawings to include proposed face, trim cap and return colors for all signage; include Pantone equivalent numbers. Issue: Sign Illumination Identification Proposed sign drawings do not clearly indicate which, if any, signs are not to be illuminated. Recommendation: Revise the sign drawings to clearly indicate which signs are to be illuminated and which, if any, are not. Issue: LED Illumination The following note, regarding lighting intensity, is required for all signs proposing to use LED: "The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. " Recommendation: Revise the sign drawings to include the required note regarding LED lighting intensity. Issue: Logo Illumination ARB Sign Guidelines state that external (or no) illumination is preferred for approved logos /graphics and internal illumination may be considered for approval on a case by case basis. At the April 16, 2012 meeting, the Architectural Review Board indicated (by a vote of 3:2) that the logo size on the entrance portal was appropriate but internal illumination of it would not be appropriate. Recommendation: Revise the sign drawings to indicate that the Toyota logo on the entrance portal shall not be illuminated. Please contact me should you have any questions. The building elevations in your application are those that the ARB requested be revised — therefore I cannot approve this application as is. I have attached the comments from the December 5, 2012 ARB meeting. As you will note, they have requested that the black ACM panel be removed from the proposal. This is the SCION sign panel. I would suggest that you reply to this email and request a indefinite deferral while the Toyota architect works to get the drawings revised and approved by the ARB. To request a deferral, send me an email stating the following: "I am requesting an indefinite deferral of ARB 201200004, Brown Toyota Charlottesville — Sign, to allow the architect time to revise the building design and obtain ARB approval. " Once the building elevations have been revised and approved by the ARB, you can resubmit the drawings with approved elevations and we can reactivate your application. Brent Brent W. " I would suggest that you email Stewart Wright, Permit Planner in our department and send him the information you have before you make your application.
