The intent of this revision is to replace the 18 "x8' trench drains along Bond Street with 8" diameter Duraslot pipe. The proposed Duraslot pipe will run continuously along Bond Street in the curbless portion of the roadway between District Ave. and Swanson Dr. Please refer to the revised site plan sheet, Dwg. C -11, accompanying this letter for locations provided. The Duraslot pipe will maintain sheet flow within the gutter pan and eliminate the concentrated flows created by the spacing of the trench drains therefore creating a more pedestrian friendly environment. The 8" diameter pipe will be installed at the same 1.3% slope as the adjacent roadway. The pipe has a capacity of 1.51cfs at the specified slope. This will provide adequate capacity to accommodate the 100yr storm as originally intended. The largest flow to an individual section of pipe is 0.81 cfs for the l 00yr storm event. Testing performed by the FHWA has concluded that the inlet capacity to be used for design is 0.046cfs per foot of inlet for the 1.75" slot with a grate. The largest flow to an individual section of pipe is 0.011 cfs per foot of inlet for the l 00yr storm event. A revised drainage area map, inlet calculations, details, and typical sections are provided with this letter as wells as a copy of the manufacturers data for the Duraslot pipe. 3040 Avemore Square Place • Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 Telephone (434) 984 -2700 • Fax (434) 978 -1444 Lynchburg • Charlottesville Enclosed with this letter please find the following: 1 copy - Letter of Revision Application and Fee I copy - Manufacturer's Catalog for Duraslot Pipe 4 copies - revised plans, calculations and details.
