Elev ... pdf Importance: High Peter, I have completed my review of this application for compliance with the Architectural Review Board (ARB) Sign Guidelines. The following issues would need to be adequately addressed for an administrative approval. Sign Type/ Coordination With Architecture /Overcrowding Sign Area ARB Sign Guidelines indicate that: • Channel letters area more appropriate sign type than cabinet signs when internal illumination is preferred. • Internally illuminated cabinet signs may be considered when channel letters cannot be accommodated. • Sign placement should not obscure architectural details, should integrate with the architecture and not over -crowd the wall to which it is attached. Issue: The proposed cabinet sign is shown covering up the existing round vent detail in the gable. The sign cabinet, as shown in the submitted drawing (attached), appears to over -crowd the wall (gable) to which it is attached. It appears that a channel letter sign, if sized properly and with a horizontal alignment, could be located beneath the gable in the horizontal EIFS band above the windows. Recommendation: Revise the sign proposal to show a channel letter sign, with a horizontal alignment, in the EIFS band directly above the windows and beneath the gable. Size the sign so that it does not over -crowd the horizontal band to which it is attached, allowing the EIFS to frame it on all sides. Dimensions of the sign and wall area to which it is attached should on the photo- rendering /sign drawing. Incorrect & Missing Information /PMS Colors /Sign Location - Drawing /Onaaue Background • The submitted drawing (attached) shows the sign on the southeast elevation (opposite the Route 29N side) when the sign is proposed on the northwest elevation (attached photo) facing Route 29N. • Pantone equivalent numbers for the red and blue are not provided on the sign drawing. • ARB Sign Guidelines and the Zoning Ordinance require that cabinet signs have opaque backgrounds, only the text and logo are to illuminate.
