(VDOT) [ Joel .DeNunzio @VDOT.virginia.gov] Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2012 9:58 AM To: Megan Yaniglos Subject: SUB2012 -003 Old Trail Block 2- minor amendment Attachments: block 2 phase 2 entrance.pdf Follow Up Flag: Follow up Flag Status: Flagged Megan, I have reviewed the subject minor amendment and have the following comments: 1. The entrance shown on Golf Drive to phase one of the development needs to meet the minimum VDOT standards and include 25 foot effective radii. 2. Remove the bump out directly across from the entrance to allow for the effective radius. 3. This amendment needs to also show the two entrances along Claremont Lane to the site meeting the minimum standards. Please see the below e-mail for information on the two entrances that will need to have 25 foot effective radii and a minimum 24 foot entrance width. 4. The alignment shift does not meet the minimum standard radii for a 25 mph design. However, this alignment change does meet the minimum alignment shift requirement for a 3 foot offset of the centerline of the road. I recommend that the reverse curve be omitted from the plan and replaced with an alignment shift. This will not require any changes to the construction of the road. Joel DeNunzio, P.E. Is this acceptable for this entrance (block 2, phase 2)? We're resubmitting on Monday. Thanks. Kirsten (434)566 -3013 From: DeNunzio, Joel D., P.E. Subject: RE: SUB2012 -003 Old Trail Block 2- Prelim Subdivision Kirsten, I visited the site on Friday and this section of Claremont and Brookley Dr. have not started construction yet. Since they have not started construction on any of these entrances, they should all be constructed to the current standard at this time as these site plans come in for review. If we need to revisit the road plan to get the entrances corrected we can re- review the plan or just correct the entrances with the site plans. Thanks Joel Joel DeNunzio, P.E. Subject: FW: SUB2012 -003 Old Trail Block 2- Prelim Subdivision Joel, We received the attached comments on the preliminary plat for block 2, phase 2. This entrance was built with Claremont Lane, per the approved road plans (sheet S -2 is attached) which showed a 20' entrance and 15' curb radii. We understand that the requirements have changed within the last year, but this entrance now exists based on the old requirements. Please let us know if this will be a problem.
