HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB201100007 Review Comments Miscellaneous Submittal 2012-07-24Brent Nelson From: Brent Nelson Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 11:27 AM To: Scott Watkins (scott @watkinscompany.net) Cc: 'Lauren Noe' Subject: ARB 2011 -7, Watkins Sign, Staff Comments Scott, I am sending this email as a follow up to our phone conversation regarding your revised sign proposal. The following issues have been identified that would need to be addressed before I can administratively approve this proposal. Sign Color/Intensity: ARB Sign Guidelines state: Overly intense color, such as but not limited to dayglo or fluorescent colors, are prohibited. The revised sign drawing shows a Lucky Charm Green frame and Lucky Charm Green logo. This is the same color green proposed in the original sign application. In the original application, staff identified this color as overly intense but was able to administratively approve the color due to its limited use on a smaller, single -sided sign ( for sign border & logo only). That sign was parallel with the right -of -way. The current proposal is for a much larger, double -sided sign perpendicular with the right -of -way. As a result, the visual impact of the green color is more significant. Staff has determined that changing the 4" wide top and side frame color from green to black or bronze would reduce the visual impact to an appropriate level. The 2" wide green border on both sign faces could remain as currently shown. Also, you indicated on the phone that you might be revising the shade of green proposed. If you are in fact revising the color, you need to include the Pantone equivalent number for that color on the sign drawing. Recommendation: Revise the sign drawing by changing the color of the sign frame top and sides (not the 2" wide green border on the sign face) from green to black or bronze. If you are revising the proposed green color to something other than Lucky Charm Green, revise the sign drawing to include the Pantone equivalent number for that color. Sign Base/Material: Provide a sample of the stone material proposed for the sign base. Revise the sign drawing to include the product ID for the stone. Sign Location: Provide a drawing showing the location and orientation of the sign. The drawing should be at a scale large enough to show the approved landscaping around the sign and demonstrate that the sign meets the required setback. Dimensions: Revise the sign drawing to include the height and width of each row of text and the logo, and also the width of the green border on the sign face. Lighting: You have indicated verbally that the sign is to be non - illuminated. Revise the sign drawing to include a note indicating that it is non - illuminated. Please contact me should you have any questions. You are welcome to email the revised drawings. Brent Brent W.
