Notes: No signs are proposed for the north elevation. In addition to the signs outlined above, channel letter and channel logo signs are
proposed for the south and west elevations, and a blade sign is proposed for the south elevation. The ARB previously determined that signs
on the south elevation do not require ARB review /approval. The west elevation is not visible from the EC; consequently, signs on that
elevation do not require ARB review/ approval.

Six colors have been approved for awnings in
the overall town center: black, natural, gray,

have been approved for Trader Joe's, and
lamboo (laminated bamboo) awnings have been
approved for Pier 1.
The Burton's channel letter faces and awnings
are proposed in bright orange. The Pantone

(1655C) does not fall within the range
previously identified by the ARB as generally
appropriate for the EC. The same color is
proposed for the Sunbrella awning fabric, and
Orange 4609 -0000 is identified as the Sunbrella
product number. The Sunbrella fabric swatch
and the acrylic letter face sample confirm the
bright color. A less bright shade of orange
would be more appropriate for the EC, such as
Pantone 1665. Sunbrella does not appear to
offer a wide range of shades of orange.

above, below, and to the sides of a channel letter sign is
considered a minimum, with larger clearances required for
larger sign bands. The ARB will consider the degree of
visibility, the distance from the Entrance Corridor, and the
architectural design of the building and the sign area in its
determination of appropriate sizes and placement.
SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends the following as the primary points of discussion:
1. The shade of orange proposed for the channel letters and awnings
2. Channel letter location/installation on top of the canopy
Staff recommends approval of the Burtons Grill signs with the following conditions:
1. Revise the letter face color and the awning color to a shade of orange that is less bright than Pantone 1655. Pantone 1665 is recommended.
2. Revise page 3 of 4 to correct the "East Elevation" title, which should read "South Elevation ".
3. Revise the drawings to include complete logo dimensions (widths and letter height at awning) and channel letter materials.
4. Indicate the Sunbrella awning color number on page 4 of 4.
