(VDOT) [ Joel .DeNunzio @VDOT.virginia.gov] Sent: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 2:49 PM To: Glenn Brooks; Ellie Ray; David Benish Cc: Rebecca Ragsdale; Jack Kelsey Subject: RE: Senior Center - Belvedere - Variation Application Ellie, I have the following comments for the proposed parking on Belvedere Boulevard for the senior center plan: 1. Parking is generally acceptable on lower speed local and collector roads for general public use. The proposed parking on this plan will increase the pavement areas, increase the runoff, may require drainage improvements to the road and will increase future maintenance costs for the road. The county will need to make the decision is it is acceptable for increased maintenance costs to the road to allow for occasional overflow parking for the benefit of one development. 2. Parking on the eastern side of the street should accommodate reasonable access to the sidewalk form the street parking. 3. Proposed parking on the west side of the road would require demolition and reconstruction when the 100 foot reserved area for a future connector road is built. The demolition of this area will increase costs to a VDOT or county road project. 4. Sidewalk adjacent to the back of curb in locations where there is parking is required to be 8 feet wide and constructed from hydraulic cement concrete. S. The construction of parking lanes will require modifications to the storm sewer system to place conduits in the new locations for the drop inlets. Please let me know if you have any questions. The applicant called on 8/22 asking about the status of our review and I told her that I had asked each of you to provide comments by the 29th and that I would contact her after I received your input. I'm sure she will be calling again soon and would like an update on when they can expect to hear our position on their request. Can you all let me know when you might be sending comments my way? Where: CDD Rm B Hi All, The Senior Center folks have submitted an application to vary several items of the Belvedere Code of Development. One of their requests is to add on- street parking to Belvedere Blvd. It seems each of you should have some input in the review of this request. I'll distribute the application package during this meeting, and maybe we should have some preliminary discussion... probably won't take the whole hour. Thanks, Ellie
