Subject: SDP 2012 -00057 Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center - Minor
The County of Albemarle Planning Division will recommend approval of the plan referenced above once the
following comments have been satisfactorily addressed (The following comments are those that have been
identified at this time. Additional comments or conditions may be added or eliminated based on further review.):
[Each comment is preceded by the applicable reference, which is to the Subdivision /Zoning Ordinances unless
otherwise specified.]
1. [32.5.6(a)] This is a new application, please remove the 9/13/11 date and replace with the 9/6/12 date
(currently noted as a revision date) as the original plan date. Add the date and description of any future
revision submittals.
Rev1: Comment addressed.
2. [32.5.6(n)] Provide dimensions for the travelways, parking lot, building, and sidewalks.
Rev1: Comment addressed.
3. [32.6.6(g)] Indicate the width of all parking aisles.
Revl : Comment addressed.
4. [32.6.60)] If any outdoor lighting is proposed, a lighting plan must be submitted for review. Please verify
that no lighting is proposed.
Rev1: Comment addressed. However, since another revision is required, please revise the lighting
note to correct the spelling of `lumen'.
5. [32.7.9.4(b)] The Conservation Plan Checklist must be completed and signed.
Rev1: Comment not fully addressed. As stated above, the Conservation Plan Checklist must be
completed and signed. Please fill out the checklist and make sure it's legible on the plan.
6. [Comment] Please note the previously approved Site Development Plans that this plan is amending. The
original Site Plan is SDP200900007, and SDP201100066 is a previously approved minor amendment.
Rev1: Comment addressed.
7. [Comment] This site plan amendment cannot be approved until ACSA and VDOT complete their reviews
and grant their approval. Zoning, Engineering, Inspections and ARB have completed their reviews and each
has no objection. Fire rescue comments have been provided.
Rev1: Comment not fully addressed. ACSA must grant their approval before the site plan can be
approved.
8. [Comment] Even though a conceptual plan for Phase 2 is included in this plan set, no changes to Phase 2
are reviewed or approved with this application.
9. [Comment] There are a couple of minor landscape plan issues: 1) The plant schedule lists 8 Cornus
sericea, but the plan shows 9, and 2) Three of the Clethra alnifolia aren't labeled on the plan. The plan is
approvable, but since revisions are already required I thought I'd mention these discrepancies.
