Mr. Roderick -
It was nice to meet you yesterday and helpful to go over your major home occupation application in person. What you
have provided so far is a good start and here is a list of the additional items I will need to review the application (below).
Health Department and Virginia Department of Agriculture approval, as applicable, will be required prior to approving
the home occupation.
• Sketch plan of the site—An updated sketch using the physical survey you have, will be needed. The proposed
location and setbacks of the new building should be shown. Any parking spaces, access, and driveways should
also be shown.
• Traffic generation- Please provide information on the number of anticipated trips for the home occupation.
Please describe what types of deliveries and frequency for the business.
• Parking -One parking space per employee is required. Please show where deliveries will take place and
explain/show on plan how parking is provided.
• Number of vehicles used in a home occupation -Please indicate the number and type of business vehicles that
will be associated with the business.
• Performance standards. --All home occupations shall comply with the performance standards in section 4.14.
Here is a link to the packet that explains more about this requirement. Please refer to the section for a Type 1
report, which is basically a letter that describes in more detail your processes (brewing, fermenting, carbonating,
kegging, bottling, etc.) used to make the Kombucha, type of equipment, storage.
