Brent,
We are requesting an indefinite deferral of ARB 201300049, Pantops Physical Therapy Sign to allow needed time to
address staff recommendations. We are currently looking into masons for the brick base.
Thank you,
Katie Cullinan

James - In order to give you as much time as needed to meet our recommendations, I need to have you or Katie Cullinan
email me with a request for an indefinite deferral of my review. I would appreciate it if you could send the email no later
than the end of the day tomorrow. It would need to state the following:
"We are requesting an indefinite deferral of ARB 201300049, Pantops Physical Therapy Sign to allow needed time to
address staff recommendations. "
This request will not affect the timing of my review. You are welcome to call me should you have any questions.

Thank you Brent. We are not going to attend the meeting. We plan to continue our efforts with Gropen to meet
the recommendations.

Subject: Pantops Physical Therapy Sign
Hello Brent -- I am trying to get some clarity on the brick requirement for our sign. Gropen has
worked to match the sign to the existing trio of buildings. The landscape will further tie the new
sign into the existing structures. We chose to avoid brick because the existing sign for our
building has proven ineffective. It is crucial that our sign be visible and effective.
As I am sure you know, healthcare in Charlottesville is changing rapidly. It is becoming
increasingly difficult for a local facility to remain operational as large corporations are allowed
to gain control. I know that there are several larger companies without brick signs and one with
a blue roof that doesn't match anything. We feel that our contribution to the local economy,
including taxes, $5,066 annually for a business license and employing 9 local
residents, warrants some further consideration. The inclusion of a brick base constitutes a 50%
increase in our expense. I am not sure our business can absorb such an increase. Any
reconsideration of this issue is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, James Collins
