I have completed my review of the above -noted Architectural Review Board (ARB) sign application with
regard to established ARB Sign Guidelines. The following issues have been identified that will need to be
adequately addressed for an administrative approval.
ARB Review Fee:
The required $120 ARB application review fee was not provided. Sign permits will not be issued until that fee
has been paid.
Freestanding Sign Proposal:
Zoning Review:
Rebecca Ragsdale, Zoning Permit Planner, has provided the following comments regarding this proposal.
Please work directly with Rebecca (rra sg dale(d),albemarle.org, 434 - 296 -5832 x 3226) to address these issues.
"Not enough information provided to confirm sign meets setbacks (out of VDOT ROW) and also photo provided
shows sign under power line. Plat or site plan needs to be used to show sign location and to scale, not a Google
map. Also need approval from power company. "
Sign Structure:
A detailed drawing of the sign structure was not provided. This drawing would need to show the proposed
design of the sign structure, dimensions, materials and colors and indicate the method and type of illumination
(if proposed).
Sign Colors:
A color sample of black stripes on a white background was provided with this application. The proposed
location of these stripes cannot be determined from the information provided.
Photo - rendering:
The photo- rendering showing the sign in its proposed location is blurred and unreadable.
Sign Location — Planting_
A plan view to —scale drawing, showing the sign in its proposed location, property lines, utility easements, sign
setbacks and existing and proposed landscaping was not included with this submission.
Sign Drawing /Dimension:
Dimensions (width & height) of each row of text were not included on the sign drawing. The sign text appears
to overcrowd the sign leaving an insufficient amount of white background showing at the top and bottom of the
sign.
Sign Illumination:
The sign drawing does not address whether or not illumination is proposed. If it is proposed, please contact me
and I will review the requirements with you. If not proposed, please note on the drawing.
Wall Sign Proposal:
Projecting Wall Sign:
A detailed drawing of the projecting wall sign was not included with this application.
Photo - rendering:
The photo- renderings of the wall signs in their proposed locations are blurred and unreadable.
Sign Drawing/Dimension:
Dimensions (width & height) of each row of text were not included on the sign drawing.
Sign Illumination:
The sign drawing does not address whether or not illumination is proposed. If it is proposed, please contact me
and I will review the requirements with you. If not proposed, please note on the drawing.
