Randy - I have completed my review of the above -noted ARB sign application. The following issues have been
identified that will need to be adequately addressed for an administrative approval.
Sign Type
Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines state that channel letter wall signs are the preferred sign type because they
overlay the wall material and allow the structure of the building to "read through" with less interruption. You
are proposing a "cloud" sign type with white lettering and a brown background - which does not meet that
criteria. The existing sign (Topeka's Steakhouse) was approved as a channel letter sign type with a raceway.
Recommendations:
• Revise the proposal to show the use of a channel letter sign type.
• If a raceway is to be used, include a note stating that the raceway color shall match the color of the wall
to which it is attached.
Note on the drawing that the channel letter face and trim caps shall be white with bronze returns.
• Indicate on the drawing the height of both sign bands.
