Peter - I sent you the email below on July 18"' and left voicemails that day and yesterday for you to call me. My email
below suggests that you request an indefinite deferral of the ARB sign application — to allow you needed time to address
the issues that have been identified. Otherwise, I will have to issue a denial for this application, and you would have
submit a whole new ARB sign application and $120 review fee.

Hi Peter - Since I did not hear back from you by July 15'h regarding my staff comments, I thought I would touch base. I
also left you a voicemail earlier this afternoon. If you need additional time to address my comments, I would suggest that
you reply with a request for indefinite deferral to allow you the additional time needed to address my comments. You can
then take as long as you need.
I will be out of the office after today and will return Tuesday, July 30"' should you need to call me.

Peter - I have completed my review of the above -noted freestanding, multi- tenant sign. The following issues
have been identified that will need to be adequately addressed for an administrative approval.
Zoning Requirements:
• Stewart Wright, Zoning Permit Planner, has identified several issues with this proposal as it relates to
the zoning ordinance. ARB approval cannot be granted until all zoning issues have been adequately
addressed. His email to the applicant, outlining these issues, is attached.
Sign Location/Sign Landscaping_
• Your application has the sign listed on the wrong parcel (the bank parcel).
• Provide a to -scale drawing showing the sign in its proposed location, with dimensions from the property
line showing that it meets required setbacks. The sign location drawing included in this submission is
illegible.
• Provide a to -scale plan view planting plan for the sign. ARB Sign Guidelines require that planting,
including ground cover, trees and/or shrubs be used to integrate the sign structure with the overall
landscape development of the site. This planting must also be shown on the current site plan amendment
under review. It cannot be approved until that site plan amendment has been approved.
Sign Structure Materials:
• The sign drawing states that the brick in the sign base is to match the shopping center brick. What is the
shopping center brick you are referencing? Revise the drawing to indicate the brick manufacturer & type
(color) and the building the brick was approved for.
• Revise the sign drawing to clearly indicate all proposed materials in the sign structure (e.g. aluminum,
acrylic etc). The ARB has indicated that synthetic stucco is not an appropriate material for the sign
structure.
Sign Colors:
• Revise the sign drawing to indicate the Pantone equivalent number for the Malibu Sand Suede paint
color.
Revise the sign drawing to indicate all text colors and the tenant panel background colors.
Revise the sign drawing to list a palette of three colors to choose from for text and graphics on the tenant
panels. ARB Sign Guidelines encourage coordination of colors for signs in multiple business centers and
limiting the total number of colors used to three. Additional colors for the tenant panels can be
approved, on a case by case basis, if they contribute to a balanced and unified sign design.
Sign Illumination:
Revise the sign drawing to indicate the method of illumination and bulb type (e.g. internal, LED). If
LED is proposed the following note regarding the intensity of the bulb must be added to the drawing.
The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single
stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon.
ARB Sign Guidelines and the Zoning Ordinance both require that cabinet signs in the Entrance Corridor
shall have a non - illuminated background, or an opaque (zero light transmission) background. Revise the
sign drawing to include the following note: Both the sign structure and individual tenant panels shall
have an opaque, non - illuminated background, only the text and graphics shall illuminate.
You are welcome to call me should you have any questions. Emailing the revised drawings is preferred. Please
reply by Monday, July 15th either with revised drawings addressing these issues or an email indicating that you
intend to provide them.
Thanks,
Brent
