RE: ARB- 2013 -102: Crown BMW Lighting Amendment
Dear Rick,
I've reviewed the proposed lighting amendment referenced above and I have the following comments:
1. The last approved site plan that I can find for this site is SDP - 2008 -144. The lighting plan
included in that approved set does not show all the light pole locations that are shown on the plan
submitted with your current amendment proposal. The pole locations that are missing appear to
be those that were previously existing on site. Those previously existing poles should have been
added to the lighting plan for SDP - 2008 -144, but they were not. That situation can be rectified
with the current amendment since your plan now shows all the locations.
2. Please include the following note on the lighting plan: Each outdoor luminaire equipped with a
lamp that emits 3, 000 or more initial lumens shall be a full cutoff luminaire and shall be
arranged or shielded to reflect light away from adjoining residential districts and away from
adjacent roads. The spillover of lighting from luminaires onto public roads and property in
residential or rural areas zoning districts shall not exceed one - halffootcandle.
3. Indicate on the lighting plan the color /finish for the poles and fixtures. I can approve black, brown
or bronze for the ARB.
4. As currently shown on the plan, the pole lights are proposed at 17' high, including any bases that
may be proposed. Please confirm that this is accurate. If bases are proposed, indicate this on the
plan and identify the overall pole height, including bases.
5. Note that some proposed light pole locations appear to conflict with proposed tree locations.
While minor shifting of trees and poles is acceptable, elimination of trees will not be approved,
and relocation of trees may not be approved. Please consider this carefully and adjust light pole
locations accordingly.
Please provide:
1. Two copies of a revised drawing(s) addressing each of these conditions.
2. A memo including detailed responses indicating how each condition has been satisfied. If changes
other than those requested have been made, identify those changes in the memo also.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your
revisions to ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staffs review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a
Certificate of Appropriateness may be issued.
