The following issues remain that will need to be adequately addressed for an administrative approval. General: • The $120 ARB review fee has not been received. The approved sign permit cannot be issued until the fee is paid. • All required sign information needs to be on the sign drawing or photo - rendering — not just in a letter (e.g. note on the drawing if the sign is to be illuminated). • All sign drawings or photo- renderings have to be labeled (identified) as to its location — identifying where on the siteibuilding it applies. Freestanding sign: • The plan view drawing provided does not demonstrate that the sign meets the required 5' setback from the right - of -way (property) line, see Rebecca Ragsdale's email of 08/15/2013. It does not demonstrate that the sign meets the required off sets from poles and pad mounted structures outlined in the letter from Dominion Power. It needs to indicate if any existing planting is to be removed. The location of the sign is going to need to be staked in the field for staff to evaluate — please coordinate with Rebecca regarding this and let me know when it is staked. • ARB Sign Guidelines indicate that monument signs are the preferred type for freestanding signs. Pole -mount signs can be considered if the existing site conditions rule out the ability to use a monument sign and only when the pole is in proportion to the sign panel. The proposed post and beam style structure is not a pole -mount sign and therefore does not meet this requirement. Revising the proposal to a sign on a single pole could meet this guideline, accommodate the existing vegetation better without blocking sign visibility and make it easier to meet the required sign setback. • Revise the sign drawing to indicate the sign is to be non - illuminated and include the sign panel dimensions (width, height and depth) on the drawing. Wall signs: • A photo - rendering of the wall sign on the side of the building was not provided. Please provide. The previous photo- rendering was inaccurate making the sign appear to be a projecting sign. • A file labeled "Sign Drawing Dimensions" was provided but the drawing is not labeled as to its location (wall sign? both wall sign locations ?). • Revise the photo- rendering to indicate the signs are to be non - illuminated. I am sure the owner is anxious to get his signs up so you are welcome to call me should you have any questions or concerns. I would like to do what we can to move this along. If providing hard copies of the drawings, instead of emailing them is easier for you, you are welcome to do that. Brent Brent W.
