RE: ARB- 2014 -17: Cale Parking Lot Improvements
Dear Mr. Rissmeyer,
I have reviewed the above -noted application for a county -wide Certificate of Appropriateness. The following revisions are requested
to make the proposal consistent with the design criteria that apply to the county -wide Certificate.
1. Indicate the existing locations of the "relocated sheds" on the plan.
2. Revise the size of interior parking lot trees to 2' /z" caliper minimum at planting.
3. Revise the plan to show perimeter parking lot trees, 2' /z" caliper minimum at planting, spaced 40' on center. These trees would be
a continuation of the perimeter trees along the south side of the existing parking lot as illustrated on SDP - 2006 -01.
4. Add the standard planting note to the plan: "All site plantings of trees and shrubs shall be allowed to reach, and be maintained at,
mature height; the topping of trees is prohibited. Shrubs and trees shall be pruned minimally and only to support the overall
health of the plant."
5. Check the boxes on the Conservation Checklist that apply to the proposal.
Within 15 days of the date of this letter, please send me a letter (by email is acceptable) indicating whether you will or will not
proceed with these revisions. If you choose not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. If you
choose to proceed with the revisions, please forward me one set of revised drawings together with a memo summarizing the revisions
you've made. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60 -day review period associated with your original submittal.
However, I expect to complete the review of your revised proposal within 2 weeks of your re- submittal.
Also, please note that SDP - 2006 -01 shows required perimeter trees along the south side of the existing parking lot, but it appears that
some of these trees have not been planted. Other landscaping throughout the site, as shown on the approved plan, may also be missing.
It is recommended that an assessment of missing trees and shrubs be conducted and a plan for bringing the site into compliance with
the approved landscape plan be formulated at this time.
If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible. I look forward to receiving your revisions and
completing this review with an approval letter.
