Randy - The email below is the last time I heard from you regarding this sign application. Stewart Wright indicated
today that you have revised the sign permit application. I have not received from you any further response or revision to
the ARB sign application — which is separate from the sign permit application. I will not be able to sign off on the sign
permit until you have addressed my ARB comments and received ARB approval.
Please make sure that the drawings you email me address all ARB checklist requirements on page 4 "Section 2 Wall
Signs" of the attached application/checklist for signs. Failure to include all the required checklist items on your sign
drawing will delay my review.
You are welcome to contact me should you have any questions.

Randy -
ARB General Sign Guidelines state the following regarding wall signs:
"Lettering should be in proportion to the sign and the building for visual clarity and overall
balance. "
"The size of a wall sign shall be coordinated with the size of the architectural element on which it is
placed. The sign should not overcrowd the architectural element, the wall, or the sign area. "
Issue: The sign size, as currently proposed, does not meet the above guideline. The sign overcrowds the wall and
approved sign band area.
Recommendation: Reduce the sign size adequately so that it does not overcrowd the wall and sign area —
leaving an adequate amount of brick area showing on all four sides to frame the sign.

Subject: Bangkok 99 Revised Layout
Mr Brent Nelson
Attached is the revised layout for the sign Bangkok 99. Note ;;; There is 9" on each end of the sign.
The sign is 13' long and the wall is 14'6" wide.
The customer would like the sign on one line (like his sign in Crozet) but the design of the building
don't allow this, He is allowed the square footage, so I don't think he should be penalized because of the
building design. and make a smaller sign. This sign is not cheap. The Restaurant is open and he needs
his sign.
Thank You
