Ashley,
Thanks for your comments. I understand your concerns and will try to address them in this email.
First off, to address the process questions: advisory - committee meetings are opportunities for committee members to
provide advice to the Commission and Board, and are not "public hearings." We invite applicants in the event Committee
members have questions, but applicants are typically not asked to make presentations. Rather than introducing applicants
(or their representatives) individually, we usually just let the Committee know that applicants are present at the meeting,
as Scott did at this past meeting.
I am glad that you were able to attend the meeting in order to field any potential questions that the Committee might have
had. In this case, they did not have any questions for the applicant.
As you know, the Committee recommended denial of the Sieg Special Events proposal because they feel it is not
conducive to agriculture due to traffic issues and the development of a commercial use that could impact the district
negatively. The committee's recommendation will be provided to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors
when this goes to public hearing. I would like to stress to you that, as your project is not in the Ag Forestal District but
adjacent to it, the Committee's recommendation only provides a recommendation to the Planning Commission and Board
of Supervisors. The larger issue to focus on is the traffic situation and the entrances as well as noise as previously
mentioned.
I have also passed on your concerns to Scott Clark, our staff liaison to the Agricultural- Forestal Districts Advisory
Committee, and he will call you to discuss the meeting.
Thank you for your time and effort on this project.

Hi Chris,
Just wanted to touch base. I was a little shocked and befuddled by yesterday's meeting. I really feel that if you
all ask applicants to be present, then there should be an introduction of the applicant as well as a
brief opportunity for the applicant to present the project. We have worked diligently with all of the neighbors in
the district and currently have their support-- this seems like a key point that wasn't even mentioned. Also, does
that group have a list of standards by which they pass their judgements? The conversations seemed dangerously
arbitrary to me. Their feedback is also contrary to the overarching code that allows Special Events by Special
Permit in the Rural Areas. There is no requirement to be a vineyard for consideration. Anyway, I appreciate
your feedback and advice moving forward. We are continuing to address the staff comments.
Thanks,
Ashley
