LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR May 8, 2013 County Engineer Community Development Department Division of Zoning and Current Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 To whom it may concern: We currently operate hotpots, an `off site' unique container garden business approved by the County of Albemarle in 2012, under our landscape contracting "umbrella". As I discussed with the County last year, we would now like to establish some retail business hours for hotpots. We could potentially have three to five employees working in this (initially part-time) retail business. We have addressed the performance standards of Zoning Ordinance Section 18 -4. 14: Noise: Our operation will not create sound or impact noise levels in excess of the values specified in Section 4.14.1. We are surrounded by an embankment and block wall on two sides. Our major sources of noise are: 1) occasional operation of small tractor or bobcat 2) delivery trucks. Vibration: We operate no mechanical equipment in our warehouse; therefore, there should not be any issues with vibration. Glare: Our operation is contained in the building and the yard where plants are stored. The lighting associated with this operation does not produce glare that is visible. Air Pollution: There will be no emission of smoke, odor or gaseous pollutants, except that produced by the tractor, bobcat or trucks. Water Pollution: Previously approved plant irrigation water will be used by this operation. Our operation does not represent a hazard to water quality. Radioactivity: My operation does not require handling of radioactive materials.
