Franks 11330 Olive Street Road St. Louis, MO 63141 RE: Request for Architectural Review Board Review ARB #P(SDP) -96 -14 University of VA Employees Credit Union Tax Map 045, Parcel 109E Dear Mr. Franks: The above -noted item was reviewed by the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board at its meeting on September 16, 1996, The Board made the following comments and suggestions: 1) The brick proposed should be indigenous. 2) The shingles should be a dark earth tone. 3) The color of the trim should be compatible with the rest of the building. The trim can be white. 4) Trees must be added adjacent to the loading area. 5) All deciduous trees proposed on the site must measure a minimum 2 '/2" caliper. 6) All evergreen trees proposed on the site must measure between 6 and 8 feet in height. 7) The dumpster must be screened with a building material and design compatible with or matching the proposed building. k%MW Nqppe Letter to HBE Financial Facilities September 18, 1996 Page 2 8) The mechanical equipment must be screened with a building material or vegetation compatible with or matching the proposed building and landscape plan. 9) A photometric plan with lighting fixture details must be submitted for approval. The lighting needs to be substantially the same as the shoebox lighting pattern and be shielded and directed down onto the site. 10) Before a certificate of appropriateness can be granted the Following information must be submitted: a) A completed application with appropriate fee. b) Samples of building materials proposed must be approved, and C) A photometric plan with light fixture details must be approved. Approval received from the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board is predicated on the fact that the materials as proposed and exhibited for review will be used. The acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to use the materials as indicated on the site plan, attachments and samples submitted to the Albemarle County Zoning Department. Any change in the approved materials will require an amendment to the plan and must be reviewed and approved by the Zoning Administrator or Architectural Review Board if changes are deemed by the Zoning Administrator to be substantial. ARB- P(SDP) -96 -14 LOCATION: Tax Map 45 Parcel 109E, Zoned HC (Highway Commercial), Rio Magisterial District. Located on the west side of Route 29N at the intersection of Woodbrook Road and Berkmar. STAFF REPORT: The initial phase of this project is a two story building of 19,000 square feet with 6 drive through lanes and 82 parking spaces. The building proposed uses materials and details found on historic structures in Albemarle County. These include: 1) Brick facade., 2) Defined cornice, :3) Pediment over the entrance, 4) Separation of stories, 5) Columns at the entrance, 6) Windows in a regular pattern breaking up the facade, and 7) The canopy attached to the building reflecting the building style. Starr can support the use of the materials and details with the following revisions: 1) The brick proposed should be indigenous. 2) The shingles should be a dark earth tone. The color of the trim should be compatible with the rest of the building. If the trim is a white, it should be an off -white color.
