illumination. I am able to review this proposal administratively for the ARB and have approved the change in

Solar panels: a pair located on a 2.5' tall pole at the base of the embankment
immediately northwest of the sign, as shown on the approved drawing.

This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed and listed above, will be used.
The acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the
submittal items presented, and as listed above. Any changes in the approved sign or materials will require an
amendment to the application and must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
This approval does not include any window signs. If window signs are proposed, a separate application must
be made, reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
This Certificate of Appropriateness is one of the approvals necessary to receive a sign permit. A sign permit is
required for this sign. If you have not already applied for a sign permit, please contact Community
Development Intake staff at 296 -5832 to begin the process.

Proposal For Lighting the Current Sign

The following is a proposal for lighting the existing sign at
Albemarle Baptist Church and School
The roadside sign will be illuminated by two solar pow-
ered 54 light led lamps. The lights fixtures will be adjusted to
only illuminate each side of the sign. The lighting fixtures will
be installed in 12" PVC, 40 gauge pipe, in the ground to reduce
visual impact. The fixtures will have two (2), six (6 ") galva-
nized bolts mounted on the mounting brackets and driven into
the gravel, to stabilize the fixture.
The solar panels will be mounted to a two (2'), six (6 ")
pole '

The panels will be positioned for maximum sun exposure. The
pole will be anchored in concrete with the solar panels attached.
The solar panels will be pointed in the southwest direction. The
wiring will be run underground from the solar panels to the
light fixtures.
The lights will be used only from dusk to dawn and ar-
ranged to only illuminate the sign to avoid any interference
with other operations in the area.
Also a new evergreen scrub will be installed as shown on
the "Overhead Plan" similar to the existing one on the Rio
Road side of the sign.
