Chionchio 5260 Markwood Road Earlysville, VA 22936 County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road- North Wing Charlottesville, Virginia 22902-4596 Attn: Rebecca Ragsdale, Senior Planner Ms. Ragsdale: I am in receipt of a letter from your office concerning my neighbor's property and their request to turn a large percentage of their residential property into a physical fitness training center. At this time I would like to express my grave concerns that the County of Albemarle will allow this request to be approved. For many months now the neighbor has been performing various types of disruptive activities from firing weapons for hours at a time to infringing on our privacy with joggers in large groups running up our fence line adjacent to our private deck at all hours of the day to the shouting and loud signal noises that are created from their training in their driveway- even on a Sunday morning. It appeared that these people were training for a specific occasion and it has been our hope that it would cease after whatever test they were training for was completed. At the time of the writing of this letter I have not had a chance to talk to my other neighbors about this situation since I have been out of town sitting at the bedside of my brother who is in a critical care unit and I returned home late last night. The letter stated that this is a time sensitive matter and provided only five days to come forward- which is not an adequate amount of time to address this matter. It is also noted that two of the neighbor's houses are vacant and are for sale so those owners may not even be aware of the previous disruptive activities and their desire to make these activities permanent. Please provide an opportunity for this matter to be fully reviewed and discussed prior to allowing a change of this magnitude to a quiet residential neighborhood. This will affect our lives and our property values in a very adverse way and it is sincerely hoped that due consideration to matter will be made prior to approval.
