To the County Engineer:
The University of Virginia Physicians Group ( "UPG ") is the group practice for faculty physicians of the
University of Virginia School of Medicine practicing at the University of Virginia Medical Center. UPG
provides billing, human resources, financial, legal, and other related services on behalf of its physician
employees. UPG will be relocating its administrative office from the Fontaine Research Park to the UVA
Research Park located at 4105 Lewis & Clark Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22911 (`Building "). There will
be approximately 200 UPG employees located in the Building.
UPG has addressed the performance standards of Zoning Ordinance Section 18 -4.14:
Noise: UPG's operation will not create sound. or impact noise levels in excess of the values specified in
Section 4.14.1. UPG's major sources of noise are: 1) telephones; and 2) miscellaneous truck deliveries of
mail and packages.
Vibration: UPG operates a mail machine on the ground floor of the Building.
Glare: UPG's operation is completely contained within the Building. The interior lighting associated
with this operation does not produce glare that is visible beyond the lot line.
Air Pollution: There will be no emission of smoke, odor or gaseous pollutants.
Water Pollution: No liquid wastes will be generated by UPG. UPG does not represent a hazard to water
quality.
Radioactivity: UPG's operation does not require handling of radioactive materials. There will be no
radioactive emissions.
Electrical Interference: UPG's operation does not require any equipment that would generate electrical
disturbances.
