Zoning Clearance Supplement
2050 Lambs Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901
Proposed New Tenant: Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Inc. Loaves & Fishes has currently signed
a Letter of Intent to Lease /Purchase this building. We are submitting this Zoning Clearance to
know that we will be approved for our use before we sign the lease.
Background— Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Inc. (Pantry) is a non - profit currently located at
370 -E Greenbrier Drive, Charlottesville, VA. The Pantry distributes bagged groceries as well as
fresh fruit and vegetables and frozen items to families in need. Loaves & Fishes is the largest
direct to customer distributor of free food in the Charlottesville area.
Over the past 12 months the Pantry has averaged 1,590 families per month. These families are
spread out over the many shifts itemized below. Should it be necessary due to volumes
exceeding capacity, we would then consider adding additional shifts as dictated.
The Pantry is open a number of days, currently:
Tuesdays
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Wednesdays
2:00 pm to 4:00 pm AND 6:30 pm to 8:30 'pm
Thursdays
6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Saturdays
10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Typically, about 16 volunteers and 1 -2 paid staff are present for each shift. The paid staff for
the Pantry organization consists of 1 full -time Executive Director and 4 -5 part -time hourly
employees. The balance of the manpower for running shifts comes through the volunteers
mentioned above.
The current lot does not have parking spaces marked. We will likely be adding this once we
have a signed lease. The attached plot drawing illustrates the ample parking lot for this site.
We do intend to apply for a building permit to make modifications to the building to allow
access to the two "office spaces" that will be used for client interactions. I am attaching the
rough drawing showing door and other building modifications for which we will soon be seeking
a building permit.
The space will be used as follows:
Office Area at left— client intake.
Office Area at right — client distribution area — filling of carts with groceries.
Warehouse —for warehousing dry goods.
Office (upstairs) —will be used for our offices.
Restrooms —two as indicated.
