2. Ditch section private entrances
All private entrances shall be designed to serve one or two individual lots on a
local subdivision street. All private entrances should be designed and constructed
as shown in Figure 9. Entrance radius should be 20' except in high density areas
where a 12' radius can be allowed. All entrance pipe culverts will be sized to
accommodate the run off expected from a 10 -year frequency storm.
If drainage is necessary, the ditch line may be moved back to provide cover for
pipe. Entrances shall be at least 12 ft. wide and shall be tied into the roadway
smoothly. The driveway entrance surface shall extend from the edge of the
roadway to the right of way line. Entrance surface can be crusher run aggregate
or paved.
3. Driveway entrance grades
In the interest of assuring an adequate, convenient, and safe access to public
roads, VDOT recommends the grades along driveways not exceed 10%.

Following relate to WP0201400095. Please consider when revising WPO/VSMP plans:
1) Sheet 3 —Note states `Ex. biofilter to be removed and area regraded.' Explain and clarify effect and
meaning of this statement. Especially, furnish quantitative analysis of how WP0201400095 SWM
design accommodates removal of an existing SWM facility [Part II B criteria apply].
2) Sheet 8 — Add note specifying vegetative ground cover hardier than grass on 2.5:1 cut slope, N side
Waterside Way.
3) Sheet 8 — Revise legend to include EC -2, EC -3. It appears symbols are used to delineate sections of
(rural section) ditch to receive protective lining, and that protective lining varies (EC -2, EC -3).
4) Ref. ZMA200600016, 14- Nov -07 (proffer) /19- Dec -07 (letter), sheet 16 — item #6.b. — "Utilize wire
reinforced silt fence to control runoff from building construction." Include this note on ESC plans.
5) SAME — Item #6.c. — "Utilize permanent seed and matting to stabilize all slopes steeper than 3H:1 V."
Include note, ESCP, wherever slopes > 3:1. N side Waterside Way, for example.
