Remove all references to a backer panel on the sign drawing. Currently Sheet 3 has an illumination rendering showing a backer panel. Alan Taylor, developer for this shopping center, contacted my supervisor Margaret Maliszewski yesterday indicating that Chipotle wants the pepper logo (with backer panel) on the channel letter wall signs (see attached email to Margaret Maliszewski). As you will see from the email, we have decided the proposed size of the pepper can be approved but not the backer panel behind it. Please get with Alan about this. o Note: We have been contacted by multiple people regarding this sign proposal — which gets very confusing. It would be better if one person (preferably you) were the only contact — and the communication was with me, not Margaret. I am sorry it has taken this long to respond. The workload is extremely high right now. I have attached our Deputy County Attorney's determination that the ARB does have the authority to impose its design guidelines on an exterior sign that is a registered trademark. This question keeps coming up from others involved with this review. An application for a freestanding, multi- tenant sign has not been received. The approved comprehensive sign criteria for that building (attached) state the following regarding graphics: Maximum height not to exceed the tallest letter in the sign. When used, graphics shall be sized and located to appear as an integral part of the overall sign. The border could not be approved and the pepper height would have to be reduced to that of the tallest letter in the sign. Brent Brent W.
