The sign proposal does not meet the approved Comprehensive Sign Criteria (CSC) for this section of Hollymead Town Center as follows: a. Approved CSC require a channel letter sign type; not a channel letter with backer panel as OK — panel removed — channel letter only proposed. b. Approved CSC do not permit a reverse (back- lit) channel letter as proposed. OK — face lit c. Approved CSC limit sign colors to red (PMS 187) and white; not black as proposed. The sign OK — Red PMS 187 and white drawing does not indicate the proposed Pantone number for the red color. d. Approved CSC require that trim cap and return colors be bronze or black; not white as OK — black proposed. e. Approved CSC do not allow the illumination of graphics visible from the Route 29 Entrance OK — "Z" is both a channel letter and graphic — well Corridor. The sign drawing needs to clearly integrated into overall sign indicate what parts of the sign shall illuminate. It appears that the graphics are proposed to illuminate, which is not permitted. X 2. The sign on the northwest side of the building (facing OK Connor Drive) is not expected to be visible from the Route 29 North Entrance Corridor, therefore does not require ARB approval but does require an approved sign permit. The sign on the southwest front of the building (facing Community Street) does require ARB approval and an approved sign permit. X 1. If a raceway is to be used, the drawing needs to indicate OK — direct -mount that its color shall match the color of the wall to which it is attached. Issue — note limiting LED intensity missing. SIGN REVIEW CHECKLIST with REFERENCES — Wall Sign, Single Business ARB 201500023, Verizon 02 -19 -2015 REF CHECKLIST ITEM NOTES TYPE • 9.b For internally illuminated signs, channel lettering Issue: Backer panel, reverse channel letter — not (mounted on a raceway or individual letters) is preferred to permitted in CSC cabinet signs. • 5.b When channel letters cannot be adequately accommodated, N/A internally illuminated cabinet signs may be considered. • 6 Reader boards are discouraged. X 9.d An appropriate height for channel letters in a 30" high sign N/A band is 18 ". This allows 6" of unoccupied space above and below the letters. 4" of clear space above, below, and to the sides of a channel letter sign is considered a minimum, with larger clearances required for larger sign bands.
