The project consists of the installation of a new fueling facility with canopy at the ACSA Administration
and Operation Center, a new vehicle wash facility, and new lighting of the existing parking lot.
The canopy is 26'wide and 26'long. The canopy total height is 17'-6"with a clear height of 14'-6".

• Each application package must contain(8)folded copies of all plans and documents being submitted. Only
(1) set of building material samples is required. All submittal items,including building material samples,
become the property of Albemarle County. Applicants are encouraged to maintain duplicate copies of all
submittal items in their own files.
• Only complete application packages will be scheduled for ARB review. The application package is not
complete without the appropriate checklist, completed, signed, and included with the required submittal
materials indicated on the checklist.

A. Written description of the proposal

2 V Indicate equipment type: new or replacement.
3 WI Indicate the physical size of each piece of equipment. If platforms, curbs, etc. are used, identify
them and provide their sizes.
4 V Indicate anticipated visibility of the equipment from the EC street and describe the method by
which it will be made not visible.
5 Ii4 Explain how the proposal is compatible with the surrounding area and the Entrance Corridor.
B. Site plan or sketch plan showing the following (drawn to the scale of 1"=20'and clearly legible):
1 V Location of all proposed equipment to be installed. Show the location of the equipment in relation
to the overall building. Show the building in relation to the Entrance Corridor street. Key the
locations to the equipment type and size provided in"A" above.
2 WI Location of all existing equipment to be removed/replaced. Indicate the height of each piece.
C. For roof-mounted equipment provide architectural drawings showing: N/A

E. Additional material

Corridor.
2 W Sheet number, total number of sheets, date of the drawing, date and description of the latest revision,
and contact information for the firm preparing the drawings in the title block on all drawings.
3 Any additional material that will make the review more productive. Clarification of topography,
visibility, utilities, landscaping, or other unique or unusual conditions is welcome.
4 WI The applicant may be asked to mark the location of the equipment in the field for staff's site visit.

ACSA Administration and Operation Center
The following information is provided in order of the Part B Submittal Requirements of the
Architectural Review Board Checklist of Submittal Requirements
A. Project Description:
1. The project consists of the installation of a new fueling facility with canopy at the ACSA
Administration and Operation Center, a new vehicle wash facility, and new lighting of
the existing parking lot. The canopy for the fuel facility is 26' wide and 26' long. The
canopy total height is 17'-6" with a clear height of 14'-6".
2. The equipment is new.
3. The new fuel facility will consist of a 30' x 34' concrete slab with a two set of fuel pumps
and a canopy. The facility will have an oil/water containment area that will intercept
any leaks that may occur during filling of the underground tanks.
The vehicle was facility will consist of a 20' x 40' concrete slab that will drain to the
existing sewer system during washing operations.
The project will also include the replacement of existing lights in the parking lot.
4. While the new facilities will be within 500' of the entrance corridor of Richmond Road
(U.S. Route 250), the facilities will have very limited visibility from Richmond Road due
to the existing buildings and screening along the road. As a result, Landscape screening
is not to be provided.
5. The project is an enhancement to the existing facilities as it provides new fuel facilities
for ACSA. Additionally, the vehicle wash facility will assist in protecting the environment
by controlling runoff during vehicle cleaning operations.
B. Site Plan
1. The Site Plan shows the improvements in relation to the existing building and proximity
to U.S. Route 250.
2. Existing fuel equipment and underground tanks are being removed.
C. No roof mounted equipment is provided.
D. For Ground-mounted equipment.
1. No existing landscaping is to be removed.
2. No Landscaping is being installed. Proposed minor grading is shown on the Site Plan
3. The ground surface will be reestablished to pre-construction conditions. Underground
utilities are shown on the Site Plan.
4. A photograph of a typical canopy is show on the next page

1. Photos of views of the site as seen from Richmond Road (U.S. Route 250) are
provided on Pages 4 and 5 of this submittal (looking south from Richmond Road
towards the site).
2. The set of drawings consist six (6) drawings.
The name of the firm preparing the drawings is Michael Baker International, located
at 272 Bendix Road, Suite 400, Virginia Beach VA 23452; Phone 757-463-8700
3. The Site Plan shows the exterior work to be performed. At locations requiring
underground utility work, ground surface will be repaired and reseeded to pre-
construction conditions.
4. ACSA and Michael Baker personnel are available to meet Albemarle County staff in
the field to review the project as necessary.
