RE: General VPDES Permit for Discharges of Stormwater from Construction Activities
Exemption from 2014 General Permit Coverage
Festive Fare— 1745 Broadway St, Charlottesville, VA 22902
Dear Hans I-Iarman:
Thank you for submitting your application to register for coverage under the 2014
General VDPES Permit for Discharges of Stormwater from Construction Activities (VAR10).
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) staff has reviewed your registration statement.
Based on DEQ staff review and in accordance with the Virginia Stormwater Management Act,
the referenced land-disturbing activity does not require 2014 general permit coverage, as the
activity disturbs less than one acre and is not part of a larger common plan of development or
sale (as reported on the registration statement).
If a permit fee was submitted with your application, you will be refunded the amount
submitted. In addition, please provide this letter to your locality, if necessary, as verification that
2014 general permit coverage is not required for the referenced land-disturbing activity.
If you have questions concerning this letter, please contact the Stormwater Permit
Specialist at (804) 698-4085.
Sincerely,

Ana,
Here is the response letter from DEQ. Let me know if they can proceed with the building permit.
The Contractor asked if they will need an erosion bond for the silt fence or can that be included in the bond for the
building permit.
Thanks,

Katurah:
I discussed your project with Max. Your project was approved prior to July 1, 2014. Did you apply to DEQ to have your
permit re-issued? If yes, you will need to provide a copy of your DEQ permit to Max,together with evidence of DEQ
approval. You will also need to provide a copy of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and General Permit
documents. According to your plan, you have erosion and sediment control and stormwater management.
If your project does not have a General Permit approved by DEQ,you will need to apply to the County. This will be a
new application and fee, with all the plans attached. You can contact Max to discuss this new process that became
effective 7/1/2014.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

HI Ana,
2
I am helping the owners with this p0firect and have final site plan approval. I wouleiike to request the E&S bond amount
necessary for this job. Could you please provide me with the bond form that you would have the owners sign? It is
basically a site plan for a new building expansion on less than 1/3 of an acre disturbance. It is a minor amendment for
SDP-1986-039 I'm not sure if I need anything other than an E&S with the building permit. Can you advise?
Thanks,
Katurah S. Roe!!
