HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB201500099 Review Comments 2015-08-11Brent Nelson From: Brent Nelson Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2015 12:19 PM To: 'Nancy Brewer' Subject: ARB 2015 -99, Nancy B's House of Lights, Staff Comments Dear Ms. Brewer, I have reviewed the above -noted sign application. The following revisions are requested to make the proposal consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines. Revise the sign drawing to include the following information required to be on the drawing and listed on the application checklist: a. The proposed sign type (wall panel ?). b. The proposed sign materials. c. A note indicating that the sign is not to be illuminated. Approval of your sign proposal requires that the existing Comprehensive Sign Criteria for 1807 Seminole Trail be amended to allow wall panel signs to have a white or blue background and white or blue text and graphics, with the blue color matching Pantone 294C. The Architectural Review Board, at their July 20, 2015 meeting, indicated that such a change would be appropriate. However, the zoning ordinance requires approval (in writing) from the property owner. Normally a signed letter from the owner would be required. To expedite the process, we can accept an email from the owner indicating their approval. Some suggested wording includes: "As the property owner, I am writing to request an amendment to the existing Comprehensive Sign Criteria for wall panel signs at 1807 Seminole Trail that would change the background and text or graphic colors to include both white or blue Pantone 294C." 3. Stewart Wright, Zoning Permit Planner, has denied the sign permit with the following explanation provided: • No building frontage provided • Tenant needs to apply for a zoning clearance Please contact Stewart directly (434- 296 -5832 ext. 3024, swright2 @albemarle.org ) to address these issues directly with him. ARB approval cannot be granted until his zoning approval of the sign permit has been given. Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this email indicating whether you will or will not proceed with these revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60 -day review period associated with your original submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. Failure to respond to this letter shall be presumed to be a request to proceed to action on the application without further revisions. If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible. I look forward to receiving your revisions and completing this review with an approval letter. Sincerely, Brent Brent W. Nelson Planner Planning Services, Community Development Albemarle County Office Building 401 McIntire Road, 22902 434 - 296 -5832, ext. 3438 bnelson @albemarle.org
