In 2004, following an appeal to the Board of Supervisors, a Kia sign proposal was approved, with conditions, for this location. Among the conditions of approval were conditions requiring a brick base for the freestanding sign and non - illuminated borders for the Kia wall and freestanding signs. I am not able to administratively approve Kia signs that do not meet these conditions. Furthermore, landscaping information was missing from your submittal and this lack of information makes your application incomplete. A 2005 amendment to the site plan approved a sign location that maintained two shrubs in the island to the north of the sign, and shrubs immediately to the south of the sign location, with a row of shrubs extending from the south side of the sign along the Rt. 250 frontage. (See the plan copied below.) Your proposal must either indicate that this planting is to remain (though it looks like some of the shrubs are missing from the site, so they'll need to be replaced) or you must submit a new proposed planting plan for review. The Entrance Corridor guidelines require planting at freestanding signs to help integrate the sign into the landscape. To continue processing this sign proposal for the ARB: 1. Please send me return correspondence (email is acceptable) within 15 days of the date of this letter, indicating whether you will remove the illuminated sign borders and add a brick base to the freestanding sign. If you choose to make these revisions, please forward revised drawings. If you choose not to make these revisions, we will schedule your proposal for review by the ARB. 2. Indicate whether the previously approved landscaping will remain (or be re- installed), or submit a new landscape plan for review. If I do not receive a response from you in 15 days from the date of this letter, the application shall be denied and a new application and fee will be required. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Margaret Maliszewski Principal Planner cc: ARB- 2015 -104 j rs lsrL3DI :3 pm 74 r6: 4L -7D ii t' L 97s ji
