Tina,
I have reviewed the above-noted sign application (sign package attached). The following revisions are requested to make
the proposal consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines.
1. Sheet 4A Elevation Drawings shows a new 2-story building entrance portal (dark brown color) in the Front
Elevation and Left Side Elevation. Any change to the building exterior (like this), visible from Route 250 E, will
require Architectural Review Board (ARB) approval and an approved building permit; neither have been applied
for. It is not clear from the drawings whether other visible changes to the building are proposed. Approval of the
wall signage cannot be granted until ARB approval of the building redesign has been granted.
a. Contact Ma rgaret%011iszewski, Design Planner(mmaliszewski(c emarle.org or 434-296-5832 ext.3276)
for guidance on making the ARB submission for the building redesign.
b. Contact Stewart Wright,Zoning Permit Planner(swright2 @albemarle.org or 434-296-5832 ext. 3024)for
guidance on making the building permit application.
2. Be advised that the cross graphic shown in the revised entrance portal will be treated as signage (S. Wright) and
will require ARB approval (M. Maliszewski).
3. The proposed freestanding monument sign is not expected to be visible from the Route 250 E. Entrance Corridor;
therefore, it will not require ARB approval. It will require an approved sign permit(S. Wright).
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this email indicating whether you will or will not be addressing the
comments above. Your decision to address them will suspend the 60-day review period associated with your original
submittal. If you choose not to address the comments, staff will be unable to approve your application. Failure to respond
to this email shall be presumed to be a request to proceed to action on the application without further revisions.
If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible.

Margaret,
I have attached the updated renderings from our signage company. Please let me know if they need to do
anything on their end in regards to re-submitting for a signage permit. We are no longer looking to move forward with
the tower option.
Thank you,

The sign drawings would need to reflect the existing conditions—they would need to show the proposed signs (and new
lighting, if proposed) on the existing building.

Margaret,
I will check with our marketing department and get their thoughts. The goal was to eliminate the additional
two columns on the ends so that we would not have to do as much site work to create these. It would also stay in line
with what we did at the Salem center. I will see if they want to revert to the existing structure. If not we may just move
forward with only signage changes and not proceed with any construction. If this is the case is there anything additional
that the signage company must complete?
Thank you,
Jeff Beck
