Dear Ms. Maliszewskl:
We herewith respectfully request approval of the attached Application for Letter of Revision. With this
application we are requesting approval to erect two site light poles with two heads each at the rear of our
Colonial Nissan building located at 200 Myers Drive in Charlottesville, Virginia.
With the approval of our original site and demolition plan in 2013 we demolished two existing site lights,
circled in red on Sheet C -5 of the attached previously approved site plan. Those were 35+ foot high poles with 4
heads each of 1000 watts. We have found that the area between the back of the Nissan building and the front of
Colonial Auto Center's service building, where the two tall poles were removed, is very dark and poses a safety
concern for our staff and our customers.
We propose to Install two new 20' high poles. The poles would be bronze to match the existing and
would have two heads each. Each head would be 278 watt LED. The proposed location is indicated on the
attached color photometric drawing. We submit that these two new poles will not be visible from Rt. 29. The
heads are full cut -off as indicated on the attached cut sheet. The output from these new LED heads is under the
30 foot candles as required by code.
There were two trees installed as part of the landscaping plan when Colonial Nissan was built. These two
trees are not in conflict with the proposed light poles and are thriving. There is no anticipated impact to the trees
from the light poles.
