O'Donohue Subject: SDP201500054: Landmark Aviation Hangar - Major Ellie, I have reviewed the digital submission for the above referenced project. My comments are delayed because I had to coordinate with Fire /Rescue as well as make a site visit. My comments are as follows: • The Department of Fire /Rescue has requested that a new fire hydrant be installed where the existing emergency access meets the tarmac. The ACSA has determined that this fire hydrant will be private due to its location behind the security fence. The applicant has requested the ability to locate the fire hydrant off of the extended fire line for the new hangar. Because this fire hydrant will be private it is up to the design engineer. The ACSA wishes to express concern with locating a fire hydrant off of a 6" water main that already serves multiple fire suppression systems. Hydraulically, a new fire hydrant connection off of Dickerson road near the emergency access would provide the highest level of fire protection. • The applicant shall provide existing and proposed fixture counts for the existing water meter so that the size can be verified. The applicant also has the choice of proposing a new water meter for the proposed hangar. I can provide pricing options to the applicant based on assumed meter sizes so that they can determine how to proceed forward. • The applicant has advised that onsite staff reports pressures in excess of 200 PSI in the existing buildings. Based on 2014 fire hydrant pressure readings, the pressure at the hangars should be 85 -90 PSI. • Fire flow tests have been requested for FHA # 10865 and 11680. Alexander J. Morrison, P.E.
