I have reviewed the above -noted sign application. The following revisions are requested to make the proposal consistent
with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines.
1. ARB Sign Guidelines state: Materials used in both the sign and support structures should be complementary.
They should also support the aesthetics of the building and/or complex being served by the sign, although a
direct duplication is not necessary. It is preferred that the base material match one of the primary building
materials unless the design of the sign represents itself as a freestanding element complementing the
building. This sign proposal does not include the use of a sign base material matching the primary building
material which is brick. The nearby Pantops Physical Therapy freestanding sign at 1490 Pantops Mountain
Place was approved with a brick base to match the brick in that building. Revise the sign drawing to show
the use of a brick base with notation indicating the brick shall match the building brick at 1460 Pantops
Mountain Place.
2. The proposed sign location is in the V.D.O.T. right-of-way. Revise the proposal to show the sign location
outside of the right-of-way and within the boundary of Parcel 55A8.
3. Revise the sign drawings to list the Pantone color number equivalents for all proposed sign colors.
a. Revise the sign drawing to include the following notes: "All tenant panel colors shall be limited to the
following - Background: (name color) PMS# _, Text, (name color) PMS# _ "
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this email indicating whether you will or will not proceed with these
revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60 -day review period associated with your original
submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed
with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. Failure to respond to this email shall be presumed
to be a request to proceed to action on the application without further revisions.
If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible. I look forward to receiving your revisions
and completing this review with an approval letter.
