HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB201600006 Correspondence 2016-02-12Patricia Saternye From: Patricia Saternye Sent: Friday, February 12, 2016 12:35 PM To: Brion @ American Made Signs Cc: Margaret Maliszewski Subject: Visit today - follow up Attachments: ARB 16-6-Application Incomplete letter_02- 01- 16.pdf Brion, I just wanted to follow up on our discussion when you visited this the Community Development office this morning. Items in italics are additional details that expand upon our discussion. Items we discussed this morning: 1. The webpage we directed you to is: http: / /www.albemarle.org /arb. That has the information you will need for the process, timeline and content of submissions to the Architectural Review Board. There is a link for the ARB Submission and Review Schedule, but you can also find it at: http: / /www.albemarle.org /upload /images /forms center /departments /Community Development /forms /schedules /Archit ectural Review Board Schedule.pdf Also, near the bottom of the page under "Where to get more help" there are also links to the Albemarle County Sign Guidelines and the Albemarle County Design Guidelines. 2. We need you to provide samples of the proposed materials for all portions of the wall signs (please see 3.d. of the previously sent "application incomplete" letter that I've attached where that was specified). 3. Since the building changes also need to be reviewed by ARB the sign submission will be evaluated at the same time. Therefore, please have your updated sign submission (and the fee mentioned below) to the County on or before the same day of the submission of the building's ARB application to avoid any delays. As discussed, any coordination between the sign submission and the building submission would be beneficial. (The person who had reach out to us earlier this week in reference to the building submission was Josh Cocagne at Lingle Design Group. His number is 815 - 369 - 9155). 4. Please provide color samples for all portions of the signs. The "Material Specifications" that were listed on the updated submission packet you sent this last Monday (218116) either do not include Pantone numbers or are Pantone numbers we do not seem to have a color sample for. So please submit the color samples as discussed. 5. The graphics that you submitted Monday (1/8/2016) have inconsistencies and errors and therefore review is waiting until you submit again. As discussed please make sure you go through this packet thoroughly. At a quick glance I had found errors on dimensions and scales. There had seemed to be confusion on the sign types but today you clarified the portions that would and would not be raceways. Also, as we discussed by phone on Tuesday (219116), the 'Sign Height" specified on the wall sign diagram sent by Carrie Goff does not seem to be correct. That measurement should be to the top of the sign, not the bottom. An item not discussed this morni As mentioned in the letter sent to you on February 15Y 2016 (please see the paragraph below #4 in the letter), in moving forward with an application that is not consistent with the previously approved Comprehensive Sign Plan a fee will be required. The current sign submission is not consistent with the Comprehensive Sign Plan. Therefore a fee in the amount of $129.00, needs to be submitted with the next packet. The amount of that fee is specified near the bottom of the Application Check List under "ARB Review" where it says "YES (This sign will be constructed in an Entrance Corridor and it does not meet the conditions of a Comprehensive Sign Review. See ARB requirements next pages.)" Please let us know if you have any further questions.
